Auditory Processing Disorder Therapy
Auditory processing disorder occurs when a child cannot process what they are hearing. Also known as Central Auditory Processing Disorder (CAPD), symptoms include difficulty understanding speech in noisy environments, following directions, and distinguishing between similar sounds.
As you can imagine, this disorder can drastically affect a child's literacy and learning progress. If children have a hard time following instructions because they cannot process verbal communication, they will not do well in school or socially. This can lead to learning disorders.
If you or your child's teachers have noticed that your child is having issues with following instructions or perhaps has difficulty distinguishing different sounds, call us today. This is a common problem (5% of children have been diagnosed with this issue) and should be treated right away before it gets any worse.
