What We Do

Comprehensive speech, language and literacy assessments

We offer comprehensive assessments to evaluate all areas of language, phonological/phonemic awareness and reading/spelling. It is important to understand a child’s strengths and areas of need to develop the most effective treatment plan and overall education plan.

Language Therapy

Most of our students have diagnosed speech and language disorders. This includes deficits in oral language, vocabulary, grammar/syntax, reading comprehension, writing and social communication. Therapy is always functional and evidence based.

Structured Literacy

Structured literacy also known as Orton-Gillingham is the evidence based approach for students diagnosed with dyslexia. All of our therapists are trained in a structured literacy programs.

Phonological Processing

Most children who come to us with auditory processing deficits, articulation errors, and difficulty learning to spell and read also have difficulty processing phonological information. For many children, these skills are acquired naturally, but some children need to be taught more explicitly. Strong phonological/phonemic awareness is essential in order to be a good reader and speller. These skills refer to rhyming, segmenting, blending, manipulating sounds, and identifying letters and letter sounds.

Early Intervention

Early intervention is crucial. If you have concerns about your child’s speech and language skills, assessment is the first step. We assess receptive and expressive language, developmental skills and social communication. Children learn through play therefore therapy is always play based. It is a fun and supportive experience for the children and parents.

Pragmatic Language

We work with many Autistic students and students diagnosed wIth ADHD. Many children desire to better understand the social world so they can navigate relationships and their environments. Our goal is to use a variety of approaches to teach them about differences in perspective, to think critically, and to support them in peer relationships. We are a neurodiversity affirming practice in that we respect that our students have differences and do not encourage them to mask the traits that make them unique.

Educational Therapy

At LLG, our educational therapy is unique in that all of our therapists are certified speech and language pathologists. We are all experienced and trained in working with students with foundational and higher-level language deficits. Therapy is always functional and centered around academic tasks. The goal is for our students to generalize what they learn in therapy to the classroom setting.

Consultative Services

We offer consultative services to support families as they navigate the process of setting up the best education plan. We offer meetings, billed at our hourly rate, to go over previous testing, discuss IEPs, answer questions about school placement and help to make appropriate recommendations for next steps.
